OK guys, I ordered the filter, 2 actually, from fleetfilter.com. They'll be here tomorrow. The next think I need is to hear from you guys. Who has the best looking, fitting mod done? With pictures? I have read so many threads about this mod. Some of you say that you don't need any 4" pipe, others say you need a 3"-5" piece of straight 4" pipe, while others say you need a 45 degree bent 4" pipe. I have a line on both types of pipe on ebay, (straight and 45deg) But would like some input from you guys on which wat look and fits the best.
Being an 01, you only need a short (around 4 inches) long 4" exhaust pipe to go inbetween the filter and your intake tube. The ones that needed the 45 angle bend were the early 99 models because they have a different intake tube.
There are some guys that got away without using the 4" pipe. I got my intake tube to fit over the filter but I found that sometimes hauling down a bumpy dirt road or fire road it would come apart. So I just stuck a 4" pipe in there and all is golden
I am one of the ones who haven't needed any pipe, just stretched it over the intake tube. I havent had any problems with it coming disconnected and I do some pretty rough wheeling. My gallery has pics, if you wanna see. Good luck.
You don't need any pipe. That's for 1999 and earlier.
Just clean up the boot and install it onto the filter.
And what you can do with the intake temperature sensor in the bottom half of the factory air box. You must extend the wiring about 10" to make it work.
And you'll feel like you have enough power to haul this guy around.

EDIT:
I meant this picture here.
