Question Fuel Filter ?

Hi all, new to the forum & diesel engines. After the 2 hurricanes that we had in Louisiana ( both of them impacted me dirrectly ) I sold my house, bought an RV & a 93 F350 to pull it. Now I'm just going to roam for a while. Now to the question. I have noticed that there is a little black wire that connects to the bottom of the fuel filter. I noticed it because it keeps falling off. It does not affect the way the engine runs but I know that it must serve some purpose. Can anyone tell me what it is & what it does? Thanks

its probably the water in fuel indicator. The bottom of the fuel filter assembly is where the water separates out and settles where it activates the sensor.

Correct- it is in fact the water indicator idiot light. Mine did the same thing till I crimped the connector a bit with a pair of pliers, then stick it on, it should stay put.LOL
