Microsoft Outlook help needed
I replaced a couple of hard drives with new ones. Reinstalled Windows, utilities, Office etc etc. Got things running smoothly and about where I want to be.
I made one big mistake of not tending to any of my Contacts or emails in Outlook. I need to somehow get those off the old hard drive and into the current one. They haven't been exported or anything like that.
What I'm having trouble with is trying to find what files I need exactly so I can somehow get them onto the new drive.
I have the old hard drive connected in the system so I'm able to browse through everything. I was hoping a simple copy and paste job would do it.
Anyone know how to do this?
documents and settings -->
user name -->
local settings -->
application data -->
identities -->
XXXX folder -->
Microsoft -->
Outlook Express
While running Oultook Express, you can import the files from that folder. It will ask if you want to import all folders and messages.
Your address book is located :
documents and settings -->
user name -->
application data -->
microsoft -->
address book
Import the address book in Outlook Express from there.

It looks like Outlook 2003 (which I'm running) does things a little different from Outlook Express. Every piece of mail and contact appears to be contained within a single file named Outlook.pst. The file is contained in a path similar to the second directory that you posted.
Thanks again for the help! Wouldn't have figured it out otherwise!
EDIT: Also, as a side note. Don't forget to change the setting so that hidden folders ARE visible. That can be done in:
Tools/Folder Options/ then it's the first pair of radio buttons. Toggle it to: Show Hidden Files and Folders.
Otherwise, you won't be able to see the Application Data folders, IIRC.
Hey Doug, since you don't accept PM's do you also happen to know where Favorites are stored for Internet Explorer?

favorites. It will be the one with the star. (I still hate the Fisher-Price look of some of the XP stuff, even with the Classic view in use)
I found the best way to move the favorites is to just copy and paste the files into the new directory. For some reason, I never had good luck trying to import them.
Yeah, I forget to tell people to change the folder settings to view hidden files, since that's one of the first things I do when I reinstall my OS.
I haven't done much with Outlook, since OE has worked well for me, but I figured they might have similar directories.
Outlook exxpress address book is a : WAB file.
