clutch

i have a 1999 f350 turbo diesel with a 6 speed. i clutch and the truck starts fine, but at idle i can't shift into any gears... it's almost like there's not enough clutch. i've replaced the slave cylinder and bled the lines... same problem. a while back the pickle fork bent so i got the more beefy substitute from ford and installed it. the clutch is fairly new and hadn't been slipping prior to this.

so what could it be?

could it be the pump thing attached to the firewall?<O</O<O

any help is greatly appreciated i really don't want to pull that tranny back again.

thanks, joe.<O</O

The pump thing would be the clutch master cylinder. Check for flex where it is mounted. Not sure your truck suffers from it, but many do.

Check the linkage from the clutch to the master, make sure nothing is cracked or bent or whatever.

Check the line from the master to slave for unsightly bulges which will soak up energy and diminish travel at the business end.

Check the throwout arm for cracks, proper mounting etc.

More suggestions to follow from the better minds on the site.
