I finally got a computer to test my truck and it came up with P1293. Says high Side Open Bank Right. What does this mean and how do I fix it? Very new to the diesel and don't know where to start. Any suggestions would help
Thanks
Cheryl
It does not want to start. When it was running it lost all power. Before we got the computer we got it to run and pulled the wiring harnesses off the valve covers. When we pulled the one bank off it didn't stop running. We did the computer test and that fault code came up. Then removed the valve cover and the connector smelled like burnt rubber. Checked all the connections with a meter. All injectors seems to work. Getting power to the glow plugs. Didn't know if it is just the wiring harness for the bank. It it the back passenger wiring harness connect through the gasket that smelled burnt.
The truck is a 97' with almost 300,000 on it. Mostly highway miles.
Have two desiel heavy truck mechanics that were looking at it. But they never had to play with the ford smaller trucks. They had no clue where to go next with the fault code. They checked connections. but weren't sure what it should be reading.
Any suggestions would be great. would like to get her running before it gets really cold out. (In WI)
Thanks I think that is what it is. They are looking into it more. Do you know if the harness is stock or can you get it at a parts store. Called Advance auto to see if they had one, they couldn't find it in their computer. They said I would have to go through a dealership, but Im not sure if the guy was right or not.
The best place to get the VC (Valve Cover) Gasket and UVC (Under Valve Cover) harness is either an International Truck dealer, some of our sponsors, or Powerstrokeshop dot com. A Ford dealer's price is always higher.
Here are the part numbers: Valve Cover Gasket (94-97) (Ford) F4TZ-6584-A (International) 1818350C2 Valve Cover Harness, under valve cover (94-97) (Ford) F4TZ-9D930-K (International) 1815923C92
Make sure you check the pins and connectors on the engine wiring harness ends and both sides of the VC Gasket connector for burnt ro bent connectors. They sell kits to repair the connectors on the engine wiring harness: Valve Cover Harness Repair Kits (contains 4 hard shells w/seals, w/o terminals) (Ford) F7TZ-14489-BA (94-96) (Ford) F7TZ-14489-AA (97) (International) 1830829C91 removal tool and Shells w/o pins (International) 1661875C1 Pins (International) 2501055C1 Pins with 6" wire.
