I have a '53-55 F100 that my dad bought several years ago. My question is where are any other ID numbers. All I have is the body and frame. The VIN was removed. I really want to get started restoring it but need to find out where the title is and exactly what year it is.
Hi Matt,
the vin number is inside the glove box door. It's a metal plate held there bt four screws. A bout the only way to tell the years apart is by the grills. If your truck has the correct grill the "53" has a slotted hole on each side, if it's a V8 the emblem will be mounted in the center. "54" is sorta bulky it has three square holes on the lower half and two sections by the head lights that touches the roll pan. "55" is the easiest it has a very large "v" shaped in the center of the grill.
I also have a 53 and a 54.If it has the original transmission,it should have have a number on top of the bell housing that you can tell by. mulletr(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
my 56 has the VIN numbers stamped on the frame rails right in front of the front cab mounts. The factory stamped them in the frame. This number should match the tag in the glove box. If not, someone has replaced the cab or glove box door.
