hello all. This is my first post and my question has probably been discussed, but i have alot of fuel/water can't really tell pooring from the tail pipe. Is this a blown head gasket. It is a 89 7.3 liter with 300,000 plus miles. Thanx
tell us a little more, does it have a sweet smell like antifreeze? how is the level in the radiator? notice anything different with the oil level of the engine?
If it's fuel put a spark plug in the exhaust pipe for a flaming exhaust!
On a more serious note, it is probably condensation if it clears up soon after you start it. Also, if you have a catylatic* converter it is supposed to have a little water out the tailpipe. On the newer fords they do that pretty bad. My friends dad is a cop and his crown vic after warming up will have alot of water come out the exhaust. He will floor it and water will shoot out close to 8 feet. As I understand though the water is the byproducts of the catylatic converter converting the unburned fuels and the carbon dioxide into a little bit of hydrogen and oxygen AKA water. (H20)
when I start the engine alot of fluid starts coming out. It of course has a dark color to it from the carbon but it has a slight smell of fuel and I can see a hint of green color to it. I can fill a quart jar in about 15 seconds. It has a steady stream coming from the pipe not counting what is blowing out.
You may be just fine. Water is a engine emission when the motor is cold. If the humidity is high you will have more water. What you have is the oxygen from the air and the hydrogen in the fuel combines. It is natural.
You say you can fill a quart jar in the first 15 seconds, does it go on like that for MORE than 15 seconds? Somethin' about that just don't sound right to me. Especially the "hint of green" you mention sounds like the fluid has some antifreeze in it. Are you using one of the brands that is green?
I agree with others here. Check your coolant. If you're loosing any that's probably where its going.
The amount and not a mention of adding coolant makes me think that alot of it is water from emissions. Have you added any? Very much of what you are getting couldn't be coolant unless you have a head cracked in a exhaust port. If you lost a head gasket, which was common because syliconized head gaskets basicly suck excuss me for my language, you would be hydro locking with that severe of a leak not to mention with the compression these motors make you have a good chance that you would be pushing coolant out of your rad. That by no means is 100% true. That is the most common senerio.
