towing question

hi, im fairly new here and to ford trucks so i have a few questions.

91 f-250 4x4 351 windsor engine with 134,000 miles. all stock.

my question is i am planning on moving and i need to tow a trailer, typical uhaul 5x8. my question is how do i know what class tow package i have and also i need to buy a hitch an ball to put on it because when i bought the truck it didnt have one with it. my question with the ball an hitch is what size drop is best for my type of truck? i was thinkin the 2 1/2" drop but i wanna make sure befor i buy one.

thanks.

You shouldn't have any trouble pulling that size trailer with a 3/4 ton regardless of what tow package you have.
If your truck has an automatic transmission make sure you have a transmission cooler, especially if you are going any long distance. If it is a manual don't worry about it. they don't need it.
As far as the drop, check with the u-haul company. If they can't tell you how high the hitch is they can at least let you measure it for your self in their parking lot. The clerk at Advance or whatever your favorite parts store can help you try out different drops until you get what you need. Go a little higher than what you think you need, remember when you load the truck and trailer it will all sag a little bit.
Good luck with the moving, we all know how much fun that is!!!

I have a 88 F250 4x4 and I had a 2 1/2 drop hitch and it was a little to high but the 4" drop was just right.

Find a Uhaul dealer, They have all the hardware you will need and can install it all, too. I found their service was both reasonably priced and quick. Good quality stuff, too.

Get the 6 inch drop And you'll have it later.. I run a F150 4x4 and need lower drop for some trailers. Yours sits higher so 6 in may help. Get a class3 hitch. And should be fine . Now if you get into pulling Larger car tralier ect. get a cooler. good luck
