Also if you try to shorten the rod on the wastegate controler be very carefull, its not unusual to have the rod break. Mine broke right were the threads start. Tooo many heat cycles I guess as it was very brittle, didnt take much torque at all to break it.
RedBoat, was your mileage reduction a result of you "playing around" with the increased power? Or is it a simple functional result of the modification (which doesn't make sense to me how this would be the case)?
It was a functional result of the modification. Several other users her have also noticed a decrease in fuel mileage due to the unplug. I also ran 2 tanks of fuel thru it to make sure
You did a great job of searching. Like Chase said, just the red line. But if you don't have mods, it won't do you any good to do this.
Rick,
Don't be such a negative person It isn't that it won't do any good, he just won't feel the good it does do.
Check my sig for a quick way to spend a grand or two! It sure is fun. If money is tight I would do...well...the 6637 is cheap, but you won't have a 4" pipe to do it...Hell, just do an exhaust and you will LOVE IT!!! I couldn't believe how it woke an otherwise stock truck up.
I FORGOT!!! Thank you for searching!!!!! I wish more people would do just a little leg work on their own. BTW, it is so cute how Pete was such a virgin...I remember when I still had my modification V card.
A wise person (I think it was Jody or Dennis from ITP) once told me the SOP (Seat of the Pants) dyno will not recognize less than a 20 hp difference.
BTW - If you flip some piece upside down (I think it is the front) you can ditch your muffler for a straight pipe. This will make a big difference. AND with a diesel it is not ungodly annoying like a gasser. The turbo is basically a silencer/muffler.
I FORGOT!!! Thank you for searching!!!!! I wish more people would do just a little leg work on their own.
X2!!! Not that I mind answering questions for the new folks, but it gets so old seeing 15,000 "what does the CCV mod do" type posts all the time. Not to mention, it makes dredging the good info out in a search even harder.
As for straight piping stock exhaust, you can just cut the stinkin' muffler out and be done Or, I've seen photos where a guy skinned the muffler, cut the guts out, and welded a piece of pipe in between. If you wanted, you could even re-skin the muffler for a stock "sleeper" look. Click for link.
