Can anyone help? I've got a 50 F1 and don't know what's missing. I have nothing on the dash to hook defroster tubes to, and can't find any references to go by. The heater has outlets for tubes, so there must be some kind of outlet missing from under the dash. Thanks in advance for any info.
Under the dash you should have 2 ducts that are sort of oval shaped that are held up under the dash with 2 screws that go in from the top of the dash on each end of the slots on the dash that direct the air to the windshield. These pieces atr about 7-8 inches long and maybe 2 inches wide. Under the dash, 2 tubes about 2-3 inches long twist into these ducts. They are about 1-1/2 inches in diameter. Your defroster hoses attach to these. If you have the screw heads on the outside of the dash, you have the ducts, but probably don't have the tubes for the hoses. If you don't, let me know and I may have a couple extras. My e-mail is CLUSSY38(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
I was looking at my trucks for this the other day.
One had holes on each side of the defroster openings that I could identify (This truck was a basket case, so I didn't disassemble it.) I checked one cab that had the defroster ducts bolted in place.
One only had dimples, but no thru holes. Apparently, this old F-5 farm truck didn't come with the ducts installed.
The ducts were only installed if the heater option was ordered. I grew up around alot of old farmers and when it got cold they just threw on another jacket. (Grandma wouldn't let Grandpa take any of her wool quilts to stay warm in the old Ford flatbed)
