Help.. Quick measurement needed.. Quickly!!!
What I need to finish my IFS install is a measurement from the very front of a stock 48 F1 frame to the center of the first or second top rivet of the front crossmember.
I have a measurement of where to put the chubbychassis IFS crossmember.. by measuring from the front of the chassis to the front of the crossmember.. thing is, the previous owner of the truck cut off the front of the frame as he was planning on having the front end tilt up.
I have got the crossmember where I think it should be, just by eye.. but I'd like to see how far I'm off before I start welding tomorrow.
If you've got an F1 with out a front end on it and can see the top of the frame rail, and could take a moment with a measuring tape I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank You,
Scott

On my 50 f1 the measurement from the front of the frame rail to the center on the first rivet on the top is 15 3/4 inches.
Yesterday my boy and I just finished welding in the Heidts front crossmember and hats. They call for centering the Heidts cross=member 17 1/8 in. from the center of the large hole for the front shackle support of the original leaf springs. When I checked this measurement from the location of the original solid axle it seemed to agree with these measurements. Hope to mount the accesories tomarrow if time permits. Then move on to the rear end to have a mobile chasis.. Ed ke6bnl ke6bnl@juno.com
