Looking on the ATS site they talk about a re-designed kit using a more recent turbo... is anybody running this kit?? I assume most people are still running the older version??
secondly, when looking at this ATS kit, I know the version that came stock on 94s had a VERY small downpipe ( 2.25"?), does the aftermarket kit use a 3" downpipe?? I know the actual kit does not include the downpipe, but does the turbo come ready for a 3" downpipe?
Also, reading throgh their instructions, they mention that anything more than 8 lbs of boost will cause HP losses, is this true? or is this to cover their tail??
Not sure about the "recent" part. Ford reduced the outlet size, ATS has the 3" hole and the improved exhaust snail. They claim that 7 lbs is all that is necessary to burn the fuel. That doesn't count any mods you would do to increase flow and fuel.
I have the new turbo on my truck and haven't liked it at all because it like to leak oil out of the oil feed fitting. ATS has "tried" to fix it many times but no luck. For some reason they turned the fuel up way too far and the truck smoked like a freight train, no idea why they did that. I found that the timing was really far off also. I timed it best I could and turned up the fuel after they turned it back down and have a pretty black smoke stream until the boost rises and the truck finally accelerates fast enough for my liking w/o high egts...
i am running the new version "aurora 2000" on my truck, with a 4 inch ram air, 3.5 inch exhaust and getting 14 lbs. of boost. the tech guy at ats told me that the wastgate was setup for 12 lbs., but I disconnected mine rigth away. I dant have any oil leaking issues on mt feed line, but I did have to double gasket the cover on the intake to get it to seal up. and it comes ready to accept the 3 inch down pipe.
Good luck on the 20th, let us know how it goes!
