Cab Floor Repair

I am taking the cab off a longbed frame and putting it on a shortbed frame. I need to weld some patch panels in the floor. The doors are in good alignment as it sits on the old frame. Should I cut out the rot and weld in the patch panels before I unbolt it from the old frame?
I am afraid if I unbolt it and then weld and repair, I will get alignment problems with doors.
The other option would be to bolt it on the new frame, realign doors and everythimg and then do floor repair, and then remove again for paint, prep etc.(Seems like maybe unnecessary effort?)
Thoughts and Opinions???
Thanks

Repair it on the frame it's on now. You'd be asking for alot more work if you move it first. Unless you're a good body man, it's hard to get it back in alignment like the factory. Barry

I am no expert but am in a similiar situation, I do have the cab off and it is very sturdy and hold its shape well. The floor boards are rotted in front of the seat and up to where they start to angle up to the fire wall. I guess it would depend on the extent of the rust out area as to the ability to hold the shape. I want to over lapa and patch from top and bottom I will use seam seal 3m paint in overlap area, it will eventually be padded with insulation and carpeted. open for suggestions. ed ke6bnl

I agree with Barry. Weld in the patches before you pull the cab just in case the alignment goes. I have replaced some rotted floors with 14ga. sheet metal and they are very strong and its fairly easy to work with.
