choke problem

Hi

I have a 1981 ford 150 Inline 6, 4.9 liter truck. I picked it up for $200 and I, restoring it after school. Here's the ?

I put a remufatured carb into it and a new alternator, but My electric choke wont open and close. I have to put some ether into the carb to start it and then I have to keep my foot on the gas until it warms up. Then it runs beautifully. So I think its the choke. But how do I fix that? Can you give me some ideas.

Thanks

P.S.
It is an Autozone piece of crap carbureator.

Tye choke has to be verified it works and then has to be indexed to spec,

ie: 1 rich or 2 rich or 3 rich.

Also the fast idle circuit of the carb has to adjusted correctly.

Check the autozone site Repair section for carb info.

You will have to enter your truck info first.
