I am a diesel mechanic and have no idea about points. I took the old ones off to show a parts house because they gave me the wrong ones about five times. I placed the wires so that I knew were they went but they were in the same spot about a week later(cats?). I was wondering if anyone could help me with the placement of the wires. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Both wires go on the stud on the points (a ground wire and the pigtail from the condenser). Set the points by rotating the engine until the points follower is on a high point on the cam. Set the points to a gap of .015 - .017 inch. Should be good to go.
