Hello allOver the past few weeks my mileage has gone down considerably. I can only get about 200 miles on a tank before my light comes on. my questions are how many miles are you guys getting in your navigators on a full tank AND what could be the reason why mine is so low? during the summer i could get around 350-375 and now im barely squeezing 200! please help. By the way i have a 2002 Navigator 2WD and have not missed a maintainece.
Does the truck feel any different when driving (better or worse)? Does it feel sluggish, have a mis, when was the last time the fuel filter was changed, how about plugs (new or old), clean air filter, hear any vacuum leaks, etc. etc.
the only difference i felt when driving it today was it was very hesisitant on take off and when i was on the highway it felt as if i were pulling an anchor.. very sluggish feeling if u know what i mean. had it checked and no fuel leaks

My father's '02 Lariat pick-up had the same problem. He took it to the dealership and they replaced something on the truck and it solved the problem. They told him it was under warranty (he still has less than 20,000 miles on the thing!) and he lost the paperwork that they gave him, so unfortunately I can't give you the info about what they did right now. I will, however, get the info from the dealer he took it to tomorrow and get back with what I find out tomorrow evening if you don't find anything else out before I get back. I just wanted to let you know that it is a problem that is repairable and it didn't take the shop more than 15 minutes to solve it for my dad, so maybe it's an easy cheap fix.
In what part of the country do you live? I live up in the Canadian Prairies and have noticed a big drop in mileage due to the cold weather and winter blend gas. Mine is a 00 EB Expedition and I was averaging about 17-19 mpg on the highway and now I'm lucky if I get 14 mpg in the cold weather.

After I read this the first thing that poped into my head was those stupid Castrol commericials with the SUV pulling the boat anchor. We've never got very good mileage with ours. Of coarse having a lead foot might have something to do with it....maybe?
i have a very heavy foot also, and i know the mileage isnt stellar but i used to get about 380-400ish miles on the highway easily and about 350 in the city driving easy. now i cant get but 200 and i have been feathering the petal like i have an egg tied to the bottom of my foot!
Sounds like more than just winter gas and warm up time. When was the last time you did plugs and filters? Checked your tire pressure lately? Any loss in power, vibrations, noises, or other crazy new things going on besides just fuel consumption?
No check engine light??? If it were that much of a difference the emissions system should have picked it up.
Not being a ford expert, I cant really give you any suggestions. I can however recommend you tally your exact mpg. 200 per tank doesn't really help anyone fix the problem. I'd fill up, zero your trip and drive. Fill up again, check how many miles you went and divide that by the number of gallons you used. It will give you a true mpg vs a used to be, but now its....
I've had a lot of people mention that their gas mileage is down due to winterized fuel. a 3mpg drop over a 30 gallon tank is 90 miles to a tank. Not that your tank is that big, but you get the idea of having an exact mpg.
