Today after getting back from city at around 1:00 I decided today was the day to start on getting the grain truck ready for transport.
Dad snowlowed up to the 51 but I wanted to drive it out, I tried to get it running good but the fuel is just too old, it idled on at 1500 approx. or stalled. I had it runing for probally 3 min. once but eventually got sick of boosting it, could never get my boosting truck out of the way and my **** back to the 51 in time. So we tugged her to the shop (with some difficutly).
Got the gas tank out fairly clean but there were two old gas caps and a hacksaw blade in the tank (don't believe me I'll show them to you.) Also took off the stromgburg carb. and found a piece of the main carb. gaskets
stuck in one of the barrells.
I took off the carpet and found a floor that needs very little attention (nice surprise).
Tommorrow I shuld have the fuel system back together. Probally clean and set points. So it should (key word SHOULD) be ready to go to Clavet by this week
I decided I'll just go easy on her and only drive it in low range I do not need I piled rear end because of a sub-par hose, and I don't really feel like rollin round in the snow for 2 hours. (And yes I do know my name is Snowking) LOL
Sounds like you had a fun day, at least you got it to the shop where it`s alot easier to work on. Any luck on getting gaskets/carb kit and points yet?
You may have a problem with the crap in the gas tank. I had my 69 F100 running for months before the rusty junk in the tank wouldn`t let the fuel flow from the tank. Let me know when you plan on leaving to come and I`ll meet you just in case of trouble.
I hope you can make it here before it gets colder starting around Friday.
I know I want to get there on thursday I got no control over heater. The points I'll just clean and adjust and I managed to scrap together a stromburg, The one I had on my 57 was in great shape, a number 71 jet though.
Part Source sent mine away Scott was not at NAPA on Friday.
I got the 51 re assembled and if you give me the go ahead I'll get her up to Clavet tommorrow. I can probally get mom to follow me.
It is running better but still putts and groans once in a while but obviously better since I switched carbs. Today when I was working on the falthead in the 51 I noticed a Ford of Canada rebuilder tag. I'm not sure if the numders on it stand for but I think it was rebuilt in 1986.
The trans. has the secoundar clutch worn ut but usable. brakes are up and
I think I can I think I can. If you give me the word I'll defiently try.
Maybe though I would like to hear other members intereted in this other then fomoko
Go for it, call ahead. I maybe in Saskatoon late morning, early afternoon and should be around home by about 4 pm depending on your plans for coming tomorrow..
Once SK1 (the 51 grain truck) is started I hope some will jump in and help to make it into a club display truck. It will be quite abit of work and extra hands will be needed.
good to hear you're in effie man. Still think we need more then 3 guys though.
Weather permittin I'll be at Clavet at 4. Don't want to be any later no lights I thinkl the are still 6 volt versus the ruck uses a 12 now.
Just thinking if the 59 tow truck has a bad cab would you want to put a tow system on the 51 versus a bed? Or else how would you feel about leaving 1 foot bed sides on front and sides?
