Newbie Question

Hi guys,

I am actually posting this question for a computer illiterate friend. He has a 1995 F-250 w/ a 460. He uses the truck mainly to tow his 24' enclosed work trailer. the current motor has over 130k miles on it and is getting pretty tired. It is still getting the job done, but eventually it he is going to need to replace it.

He wants to find another motor to "rebuild", but is having a hard time finding a suitable block.

My question is, does the block have to be from the same year range as the current one? Or would a block from an earlier model year work?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

There are a few variations to the blocks but mainly deck heights are what you want to look out for. D0VE and D1VE blocks have a 10.3 deck height while D9TE's and later have a 10.32 height.

Thats my question.... will a D1VE casting block work for my application? They seem to be readily available. I haven't found any D9TE or later castings.....

Thanks for your response.
