Some people say not to wax a new car or paint job for a year is that true? My 06 F150 was manufactured in May of 06, when can I wax it? I just want the added protection from the winter.
I wax my vehicles when water no longer beads on it. My screw got waxed yesterday. It was manufacturrd 10/06. Your waxing story may have been valid 40 years ago but not today. Wax your truck. The paint will thank you.
I painted kenworth trucks for 8 years at the factory.. when they left there was a window sticker not to use soap to wash for a couple weeks and not to wax for at least 90 days. The paint cures for awhile after painting. So your fine with time to wax yours.
use turtle wax ice it is super easy to use i use it all the time and it looks great!

It may look great but it doesn't last long. As big as these trucks are, why would you want to constantly wax them? Spend the dough on some good wax and feel better

I believe the Turtle Wax Ice is actually a polish. It will shine the paint, but doesn't provide much protection. There are a ton of good waxes out there. I personally use Griot's Garage products. If you want to apply by hand, their Carnauba Wax is great. If you have a Porter Cable Polisher, you can use their Best of Show Wax or their Paint Sealant. I detail cars on the side, and I love these products. My Cobra gets the hand wax, and sits under a cover in the garage all year. The truck gets the Paint Sealant because its too big for me to fuss with all the time.
I use the wax they sell at the Harley Davidson Dealer for Harley's , but it works great on vehicles, and lasts a long time. I forget the exact name of it, but it's exclusively sold at Harley Dealers for like 15 bucks, and goes a long way. I still have half a jar, and I waxed my old truck like 3 times.
Try www.adamspolishes.com I believe he has the best long lasting products. Whatever you do, try his detail spray. Great people to work with also. Good luck
i've heard zaino bros. is awesome, got a friend that uses it on his 99 mustang. the car is yellow and still looks new and he's gotten tons of comments. you can order the stuff from their site online. i think around $30, but he's had his for that car for about 2 yrs or more, waxing about 3-4 times a year. he says you put it on and have to wait an hour before you wipe it off according to instructions, but his car looks great.
next time i get a brand new vehicle, i'm immediately getting the sealant put on it that dealers are offering so i never have to wax it unless i want to. someone mentioned earlier how big the trucks are- i'm SICK of trying to keep my truck waxed to protect it from salt and bird crap, etc. its too hard trying to catch a few days between rain and good temps.

dont waste your money. that stuff is garbage...u can do it yourself and that stuff doesn't last...if u have 5 bills to waste , give it to me
i was going to get it done at a VW dealer in chattanooga for $199, warrantied for 3 yrs used/5 yrs new vehicle i believe. a girl i work w/ got it put on her new jetta (dark gray) over a year ago and it still looks good. she never does much to keep it clean either, but when she washes it, it looks deep. that's still steep compared to cost of wax, but man when you don't have much time and depend on good weather to hold out to get some wax on a big truck like an f150, i'd rather pay the price..... if it will last on there.
any new car will look good for 2 yrs with just washing it. that whole sealant package at any dealer is a scam. dont disappoint yourself, or waste the dough
