Noticed the smell of burning oil yesterday and this morning on my 05 6.0 PSD (29Kmi). Seems like the truck has had some sort of leak for a while. The bottom of the Trans has oil all over it. Looks like it is coming down from the middle of the motor - Head area?? I really cant tell exactly where its coming from. Seems like the smell has temporarily gone away but it looks like I have to take it in and get it looked at. Has anyone experienced this? Or does anyone have any idea what it might be. Thanks for any and all help!

Dealer can add dye to the oil and re-check in a few hundred miles... unless a visible leak is detected right from the start. Some of the wiring harness/sensors can leak as can excess assembly lube in the rear-main seal.
Yes, others have reported... so take to dealer and if under warrenty they will check it out... there are TSB's for them to reference to detect and fix.
Beachbum, Thanks! I think they tried the dye a while ago and didnt come up with anything - at least thats what the tech said that I was dealing with. Will have a different tech looking at it this time. How can a wiring harness "leak"? Do they access an oil source somehow? I read in another thread about a glow plug wire that could be leaking. This is all new to me. Truck is under warranty so I hope to have it in within the next week or so.
