I seen an ad for a water injection system in a mag and was wondering how many mpg's you pick up? I would think about putting one on my 03', but does it affect the life of anything? Is there a way to make a kit yourself? any feed back would be great
You won't pick up any mpg. The water injection systems are designed to come on in higher boost situations, otherwise you risk hydrolocking the engine. Water injection is good for WOT runs when you need to cool off EGT's a bit. Water/meth injection is good for more power, but your '03 has PMR rods, and you might risk putting a window in your block.
I love my water injection. If your smart and install it as shown, use it as told, dont mix your own rocket fuel... It is one of the best power adders and EGT coolers out there!
When Towing I can not push the EGT's over 1250 on my 125 setting. This was before injectors but seems to be close to the same now. I have run a 40% meth mix for many miles with no ill effect. Gave me a 40hp boost on the dyno.
I have a snows kit, but if your looking to buy I would look at these guys kits... www.coolingmist.com
I am changing over to there injectors soon and I just think there kits look better. Feel free to ask away... been on there for over 60,000 miles.
