other than being extremely loud would it cause any type of engine damage to drive my bronco for a few days with open headers? reason i ask is i'm about to install my new headers but it will be a few days before i make it to the exhaust shop to run the rest of the pipes. so if it wont hurt anything then i'll be driving the truck to work...about 10 miles one way.
My brother drove his '84 F-150 (302) with open headers for about 2 weeks when the exhaust we were gonna put on it didn't fit and we had to send it back. Didn't hurt it...hell, it wasn't even that loud.
well i live out in the sticks so i'm not really worried about gettin pulled over. sure its still a possibility but not as likley as if i was driving in towards nashville
The only problem i can think of with lacking exhaust would be the cold air hitting hot valves and causing warpage but that would take not having any exhaust. I know people who race open headers on sprint cars and have never heard of any problems mechanicaly related. DONT WORRY, wear ear plugs.
are you planing on running any kind of mufflers when its all welded together? when we hung the headers on my friends 78 f150, we used some flex pipe and clamped the mufflers right behind the headers, we used bailing wire to hold them in place. he drove like that for almost a month before having the system finished.

Ha, I did the same thing I even used flex pipe, but I finished the exhaust so I dont have to smell the fumes and unburned fuel
