I am about to order my SCT Xcal and i was wondering what tunes everyone else has. I am thinking about getting an economy/tow and a street perfromance. Anything special that i should request?
R U getting it from a local tuner or the factory? If you go to www.dynojoe.com his come with it for the $379 price. It is the latest factory tunes w/ his custom additions.
Some of the others charge additional $ ($100 to $300 I'm told) for thier custom tunes but will include the std factory tunes for the price of the unit. It is the custom tunes that cost additional money.
Also if you get the aggresive tow you need to tell them to include the "jake brake feature", if you want it, in the program. Also if you want the EGR valve turned off in any or all the tunes you need to tell them that as well.
I have the same truck as you, and I have: Aggressive tow, Street, and Xtreme race. I bought mine from Eric at Innovative diesel. Xtreme tune cost me 100 bucks, and Lonewolftx is right, get the turbo brake feature included.
Does the turbo brake work all the time when that tune is programed? How much difference is the extreme street then the extreme race? Do you have any tranny upgrades?

The turbo brake works all the time, but is more pronounced when the tranny is in tow/haul mode. The difference between the street and xtreme race is night and day, waaayyyyyy more power from the Xtreme race, but I drive around in with the Street tune, unless I'm towing. It's going to depend on who you get the tuner from, performance wise, because I think that most of the shops that sell the SCT write there own tunes.
I plan on ordering it from Eric at innovative diesel. I want something that i can drive daily such as the extreme street and something that i can lower to tow and help with economy. I might get the xteme race but i fear blowing up something.

Thanks for all your help.
Is your truck a '96? I have a '06 6.0 liter, so it may be different for you if yours is a '96. Eric is very good with that prgrammer, and will answer any other questions you have. Have fun
SCT XCal 2 from Innovative Diesel. Extreme STreet custom tune 24/7 on my 03 CC SB 6.0L w/ 8" lift on 38's.. stock gears.. cant keep tires from spinning off the line..
I have econo/street/xtreme street from I.D. Also have dynamax race from PSD 60L Fx4, should have a couple more soon. I run xtreme street 24/7 with no problems, except gotta pass everyone every chance I get. lol
i have same truck as you , i think. i want program, sounds like yours is awsome, how much was it and from who and where? im stock what should i do first ? exhaust ? intake? gauges? can you install yourself?
This might sound like the flip side of the coin to most of you running tuners, but is there an "extreme economy" tune or should I be happy with the 17-18 MPG I get now with stock everything? I have a Fluidamper and Power Elbow coming, both of which are supposed to give a little more MPG but mostly I wanted them for reliability and longevity, not hot rod performance.

If your gonna be running tunes you need to have atleast a gauge set, pyro/boost/trans temp. If your going custom and running alot of xtreme tunes and race tunes need to add turbo back exhaust. If you can't keep your foot out of it then it might be a good idea to add ARP stud kit, I haven't done this yet but may do it before I add the h20/meth injection.

I get 17mpg constant on xtreme street with larger tires and I have a lead foot! lol
