OK, after doing some poking aruond here, I have come up with the first few mods I am going to do to my truck.
Replace down pipe
remove cat
replace air intake system
These in addition to the new tires I need to get are going to tap me out for now.
I don't want to open a can of worms here, but are there some down pipes and air intake systems that are widely known to install and work real well? Or, are there some that I should certainly aviod?
While I have not personall used Him Dale Isley at Tymar has one of the best intakes for the money. I didn't by from him but built one exactly like his and it is great for about $130. Or you can check around here for the "kwik" filter. it is the same filter as a tymar except it still uses the factory tubing. Also dale can hook you up with a very good downpipe.
Stay far from K+N drop in filters for the stock airbox! I also don't like any washable filter just cause I don't want to wait around for my filter to dry before I can reinstall it.
I think dale at tymar can get you setup with whatever you need, I don't remeber number right off hand but search for tymar and you will find it. You can build a air intake cheap and easy a copy cat of dales do a search for kwik mod or filter. I have a few pics in my gallery of air intake and his downpipe next to the old. There is a ton of info on these items if you search.
Good luck Looks like your starting right.

FPR shim which is the fuel preasure regulator. Just get a 3/16 bb and insert it behind the spring and it will boost up your fuel preasure. I will try to find a pic for ya.
Ball bearing you can go to any bearing shop and get one or one of the guys said that a crossman bb worked also. I stayed with the Ball bearing as it was about $.09 and it is a tight fit. Make sure you get 3/16's or slightly smaller, 3/16 is the max size. http://catalog.powerstrokeshop.com/p...&subcat1=86780
here is a break down of the fuel filter housing area. In the lower of the two pics on the right side is 4 parts labeled 9K061 it is from left to right a piston, a spring, an O ring and a brass plug, the spring fits inside a hole in the piston you pull all of that stuff out push the BB inside the hole and it causes more tension on the spring causing more pressure. Search for FPR shim, or just be patient there are some guys that have some good pics of it out there, I am more of a diagram guy
I am now a "10k Mod" convert. You can perform this in less than an hour for a total cost of (at very most) 5 bucks if you put a switch in the circuit. Can do it as cheap as $1.25 for the resistor and no switch.
Save it for after you've gotten your new air filter and exhaust changes taken care of.
Then, buy some gauges to monitor your boost pressure, your exhaust gas temperature, and your transmission (if you have an automatic-manuals don't need this gauge).
