One thing I have a concern with though, is if the cam is used and we dont have the matching lifter sets, we could wipe a lobe even with new lifters, if the cam is new though, not a problem, a new set of lifters are in expensive.

If it's only used for competition, is regular vs premium octane even an issue? I would say se should do what is needed to get the compression where we want it for optumum performance and not worry too much about octane constraints, as long as it will work fine on premium gas. It's not like it's a daily driver so a few cents a gallon is really not that big of a thing, is it?
As Leroy states, it looks like 10:1 is where we want to go Clint, eh?

I think I still have a set of D3VE heads in my garage that I would be happy to give up and I think they are closed chambered. Someone will have to verify that but when I repaced them with a set of D0VE heads years ago, I didn't visually see any difference at all in chamber size. Of course, maybe it's that it is not detectable to the eye??? But you guys can have them if you want to give them a chance. Be warned though, they do need to be rebuilt, but they're free!

We really need to see what is in that engine first, I would be willing to bet that the heads they have are already closed chamber,

We could wipe a lobe off a brand new cam aswell, relax Mike, you worry to much ,

All this talk about, low compression & low rpm is kind of confusing, 1500 to 3500 rpm power band? thats diesel stuff, I thought you wanted to beat the NV guys

Leroy, you're a treasure...
But being an honorary member, shouldn't that have read "I thought WE wanted to beat the nv guys"?

That way we can give it to the man... But I thought we were the man?

The truck has to be street legal, and we may even drive it to the races - from Mike's house to Fallon, say. We will not be able to trailer it through the park.

In addition, the Las Vegas guys are not going to be interested in a mud bog race (unless we let them enter Skip's truck against us!) - the challenge includes mud, but also trails. We have to perform at both.

Also, once we have beat them, I expect we will use it on the Sierra trails - I dream of crossing the Rubicon with it. It will be a toy for us to use and to build chapter campouts around.

Didn't we cover this when we started the project?

Big Foot is a Ford right? We will just borrow that to take to NV if they want to use Skip's truck
