when you put the truck into 4x4 with the dial, the 4x4 light lights up, but it doesnt actually engage.
for some reason, locking the hubs on the front engages 4x4, but it wont engage automatically...
Whats going on guys.....frozen connector? low diff fluid???
Have you checked your vaccume lines going to the wheel, I also read something about there is a vaccume line that is behind your glove box, not sure which one, you may just want to check to make sure that they are connectted and in good shape. Have you done any work on the truck recently or since you used 4x4.
Not sure what it costs, but it's Hub Lock Seal Kit Part #4C3Z-1K106-AA that includes 2 o'rings and one clip. Could possibly do both sides if one old clip is in good shape.
Hubs basically slip straight off/on after wheel & hub clip ring is removed.
Got the same thing going on in mine as well as several others on here. Now that the weather is turning, more and more folks are discovereing their seals have worn away.
Otherwise, if you don't mind the old fashioned way, simply get out each time and turn the **** to "Lock". Only other inconvenience is the vent/defrost thing.
