I have already asked this question before but I forgot to include some vital info last tme.I have a 1977 Ford F-150 4x4 with a 351 Modified With a C-6 Transmission.
where is the backup light switch
Oh yeah and I have a 1979 steering column(looked better since it was free)
As long as you have the column shifter it is mounted on the column underneath the dash, I believe it is the same switch as the neutral safety switch. On my 76 my backup lights kept staying on so for a temporary fix I cut all the wires on that switch and spliced them appropriately, and afterwards it started in all gears
On my 78 C6 it's on the trans with the shifter and kickdown linkage. I know earlier models were on the column, but since you have a 79 column it's hard telling. If you look on the driver's side of the trans and see a half circle shape piece of plastic behind the linkage with 4 wires going up to the firewall, that's it. If it's not there I would guess it's on the column. I just replaced mine and it was about $75 for a new one.
