ok i'm about to order a new set of tires. I've set my mind on the 15x8 rock crawler rims. I have not lift. I will either get the LTB 31x11.50x15, the TSL 31x10.50x15, or the Maxxis Bias Ply 32x11.50x15. Any input on these tires would be great. I drive on the street most of the time. from home to work it's <4 miles. from home to school it's <10miles. I off road a coupl times a month if i'm lucky. Thanks
well those ltb's are soft! about as soft as boggers so they wont last long even if its to and from skool. i'd try and get a set of radials if you can esp since you only go wheelin once or twice a month!
i can't afford the brg or the pro comp. i don't mind dealing with flat spots. so bias ply doesn't concern me too much. The Maxxis seem to be getting pretty good reviews. I may go with thoes.
yeah, get this. I had 32x11.50R15 Cooper Discoverer MTs on my 1994 F-150 xl 4x4 with no lift, with the rear springs busted (all except the main leaf on both sides), and bad ball joints up front, and it still didn't rub, even when it flexed all the way (or when I drove 45mph across a frozen corn field). You will be fine.
Also, how much are you paying for you wheels? I bought my US Wheel Series 70s from Summitracing.com for like $43.88 per wheel, and they're really good steel wheels. Here's a mess of them that are similar in style to the rock crawlers, but a heck of alot cheaper (than I saw them on 4wheel parts). Also, look at http://www.tyres1.com/browse/browseT.html if you go with either Interco tire (TSL or LTB). Some folks like the Buckshots, some folks hate them, but you know that you can count on a TSL!

If that is Alpharetta GA, then you want radials that will hold up to the hot summer roads. The LTB and TSL are not it.
I don't I think have ever owned a Maxxis Buckshot Mudder, though it is a "real" snow tire and can be studded. You are not likely to see much snow, I would suspect the tire tread might wear a bit fast in the summer on the highway.
In that size you want, the General Grabber MT would be a good choice, should cost just about $100 plus tax. In your 1989 you want to run a Load Range C for the best trade off between tough and comfort.
Mile Marker (multi-tire) has some nice tires in the 31x10.50x15 range in the Wild Country brands which cost about $100.00 each though not as aggressive as the Maxxis.
Anything interco has is mostly for offroad and not for dd street use.
I have mud kings witch are made by bfg and they have performed well and lasted a long time. If I could do it over I would have gone with the bfg MTs for the sidewall lugs the mudkings don't have them but the same tread as the bfgs.
