a friend of mine has an 87 chevy (yuck!) 1/2 ton 4x4 with 280,000 miles on it and he just put on his 8th set of 30x9.50 buckshots. thats about 35,000 miles a set and it gets hot in south louisiana, not to mention he takes that truck everywhere, i have seen people treat 4 wheelers better than his truck. when i get new tires for my bronco, they will be buckshots. they have my vote.

are these the old design buckshots or the new "maxxis" buckshots?
you know......i don't know if they are the new or old design. they say "maxxis" and "buckshot mudder" on the side wall. ill look the next time i see him. whats the difference? (visually?)
the original buchsot mudders are almost as loud as a bogger on the road and the tread is very very similar to the gumbo mudder...i had a set of q78's on my 79 in highschool
they have only had the "new" maxxis buckshot mudder for 2-3 yrs
i reccomend the bfg mt's to anyone...that's what i have run for my past 3 sets in a 33' and i have no lift on a 99 f150 offroad 4x4 and they don't rub at all. They don't wear to fast and they are pretty good in mud.
It is almost time for new tires however and looking at the swamper thornbirds, anybody got any experience with these?
the main reason i am looking at the thornbirds is the fact that swamper has the best measurments and the 305s are 33.9" i believe i may be able to fit them without rub, and my buddy runs bfg 315 a/ts and they rub a little. I want the biggest and best looking i can get without rubbing on my truck with no lift becuase a suspension lift is to much for right now and from what i can hear body lifts aren't reccomended.
thornbirds look good for the most part but they suck in everything else! as KO mentioned they dont shine in too many areas, stick to anything but them!
i know i have said it over and over, but i loved my maxxis buckshots, they did very well for my style of driving
Oh well guess i'll go with bfgs again...am gettin ready for a change tho. The buckshots don't appeal to me that highly, like i said i want looks and the buckshots don't have much of anything on the sidewalls do they?
Does anyone reccomend any other kind of swamper? Will have most of my miles on the road, but do a good bit of bogging : ), and want a nice aggressive looking tire.
Also fish since you do like the buckshots so much, i would like to consider them so do you have any pictures of your truck with them on it that you could post maybe?
