Y292 to 350 swap

WAIT A MINUTE. ARE YOU SAYING THE FE'S AND Y-BLOCKS HAVE THE SAME BELLHOUSING PATTERN SO A C-6 WILL BOLT UP TO A 292 OR 312?
IF THIS IS TRUE IT COULD OPEN SOME DOORS!

Y292 to 350 swap

I'm not sure on the C-6 swap. The 390 came from the 352. The 390 is the last of the "Y" blocks. The 292's out of the big trucks are different than the ones in the pickups. The top bolts from the pu's are 7 1/2 inches across. The HD 292 out of the big trucks are 6 inches across, which is the same as the 390. I would say yes you can put a C-6 behind it if it is the HD 292. My cousins dropped a 428 in a 55 cattle truck with a 4spd and 2 spd rearend. You talk about haulin cows, their two truck links ahead before the field patty's hit the ground. Just make sure you measure things before you buy anything. The only problem I could see with the C-6 would be the trans mount, but that should be an easy fix. Hope this helps

Well, sell the 350 to some Chevy lover and go get a 302 with an aod or 5 speed! I have a 52 F-1 with a 302 FI and aod, fits in with room to spare, gets excellent mileage and is dependable as hell! Don't get my wrong,I love the Y-blocks,used to race them on a dirt track back in the mid 60s,the best running one I had was a hundred thousands over bore with cut-down pistons skirts!! Just gets expensive if you don't have one in good running condition!! We have TOO MANY Chevy powered Fords as it is!! It just doesn't make any sense to me considering all the excellent Ford motors and parts available????
