If I were to lose or replace the muffler or the cat, which one would give me the most benift? I was thinking of cutting out the muffler and replacing it with a nice magnaflow ($80) or just doing the cat delete. I just want better gas mileage, low EGTs, and increase performance but I don't want it loud in the cab. Got a newborn and don't want to keep him up, sleep time is GOOD. Thanks yal. Oh, and if you all are doing the muffler cut out and welding a new one in, do you all have any suggestions?
Well a straight pipe exhaust should help the EGTs, I doubt it gives any performance or mpg gains. I got a 6.0 and find the sound is well within reasonable levels for city or hwy driving with the windows up or down.
Loose the kitty and cut the muffler. Your baby will sleep much better so will you, you neighbor's dogs may have a different attitude. There's something about that turbo whistle that brings them running.
My personal experience...most newborns will sleep through most any exhaust mod. In fact, the more drone, the faster they will fall asleep.
Do both! Muffler AND cat!

So,, Muffler and Cat delete VS 4" turbo back with muffler and no cat. Performance,,,,The same or should you get the exhaust? Just wondering as my 07 only has 100 miles and I got to get some parts. Also considering the same as in this thread.
i just deleted my cat on my 2006 ps, next i will delete that big restrictive muffler, for a much better sounding exhaust, and if it is to loud for my wife (which i know it will be just perfect for me) i can always put the cat back on to quite it down a little. but i doubt that kitty will ever see my truck again.........and i will be sure and mash it every time i pull up next to a duramax or a cummins.
I've got an '03 6.0l cat and muffler delete. Not much louder than stock in the cab but you'll get lots of looks from people around you. Especially at the quiet campgrounds when you pull in with 10k behind you. I love it. Sounds like a 737.
with cat gone not much change in sound, just one more restriction gone, i will delete the muff next, this must be done to get that jet sound that every body wants, and if its to loud for u with both of these gone just bolt the cat back in place that should quite it down a little......
get rid of the CAT. It will clog up in Alaska if you idle too much anyway. Once you remove the CAT it can't clog up.
I put my exhaust on and it doesn't sound any different at idle or on the highway. From inside the truck the only difference I hear is during hard throttle.
I like the turbo back exhaust. It is done right. All Stainless/won't rust. Looks great. Sounds great. No restrictions.

which muffler should I go with if I change it out. I don't want it as loud as a delete, just something nice.
when i deleted my muff, i just had the muff shop cut it out and weld a piece of 3" pipe back in its place, also had them weld a 5" echo tip on, looks and sound great!, especially with a tuner on 100hp mode.
