Where can I find a VIN decoder chart for the 57 F100. I couldn't find it in the shop manual. I know I've seen it somewhere but can't remember. I found a VIN plate on the floorboard behind the gas tank. Here it is: F1OK7D19087 - COLOR F - DATE 05 J - TRANS A - AXLE 01 .
Did you look on the end of the door? or where the hinges bolt to the pillar? They usually put the vin plate between the upper and lower hinges. The decoder is usually in the first few pages of the parts manuals.
Charles, The vin de-coder would be in the parts manual as Barry stated. The parts manual is different than the shop manual. Here is your info:
F10 = F-100
K = 272 ci V-8
7 = Model year 1957
D = Dallas, TX. (Assembly plant)
19087 = Sequential production number
Color "F" = Starmist Blue
Date "05 J" = September 5th
Trans "A" = 3 Speed Standard
Axle "01" = 3.70:1
The rating plates were revised around April 1, 1957.

So now I have another manual to buy. I don't recall seeing one for sale where do I get it? Thanks for the information. Where on the 57 should this plate have been mounted? On the floor under the gas tank doesn't seem appropriate.
Glad to help. I picked up my parts and accessories catalog on E-bay. They seem to go for around $40.00 there. Your data plate would have originally been mounted inside the glove box door.
