U.S. speedometer conversion

I have a Canadian F350 Diesel and because I use it commercially, need to convert the speedometer / odometer from kilometers to miles. It is a digital readout. Can I just swap the instrument cluster from a 92 U.S. F350 ?
Thanx

Would it be a matter of just making the psom count 62% of the current tire circumferance? ( being that 62 miles equals 100km) If so couldn't I just change the psom so that it actually reflected miles instead of kilometers and leave the original odometer? Thanx

I am not sure you would be able to get enough of a change on the conversion factor since it is only set up to go from 5-13. I would find an imperial speedo unit or go aftermarket, which might even be cheaper.

the last time someone wanted the speedo to read in miles instead of kilometers he never found a way or he did not post one.

i will say to you what i said to him: go to the ford dealer and ask the oldest mechanic you can find to help you.

i looked through every page of my ford manual and could not find an answer.

Well, an eBay seller had advertised a cluster from a 92 f350 diesel and listed what he must have thought was the part Ford part number. I missed buying it, however he then listed one from a 97 f350 diesel and listed the same part number. I bought it but found that the part number he listed was from a plastic piece that was common to my metric cluster. I just swapped clusters and my odometer reading was 3 times what it should have been. I removed the cluster and disassembled it. There were 4 guage assemblies that simply unplugged. I had to get the outer ones to unplug before I could get the center one (speedometer) to unplug. I dissassembled my metric one and just replaced the speedometer with the one from the 97. Everything works fine except that the speedometer seems to be off by about 5%. I guess I will calculate the needed change and read up on how to make adjustments for different size tires. Thanx to all for the input.

go to articles/specs at the top of the page and find the article on how to recalibrate the speedo.

it is not very hard to do.

here is the link:

pm me if you have trouble.

[QUOTE=waterkritter] I just swapped clusters and my odometer reading was 3 times what it should have been. QUOTE] That should have read " my tachometer was reading three times what it should have been"

My US-model 92 E150 switched over to klicks after a visit to a local dealer. It went form 90k to 145k on the odo and the speedo needle is out of whack, as well.
There must be a way to switch it back, but none of the local Ford dealers have been able to figure it out.
