Hello all, we've got a 1988 F-250 4x4 w/7.3 non turbo. The truck has dual tanks and neither fuel gauge gives correct readings. What's the process to fix this? I imagine removing tanks? We keep an eye on the odometer so as to not run out of fuel, but when friends or someone else drives the truck, they're not familiar with the setup. Any other things to service while doing this procedure??
Thanks,
Jim
PS---I saw an earlier post that mentioned servicing the CR or CD valve or something every other oil change, what is that and does it apply to our truck?
Also, if glow plugs are working properly, is it normal to have to cycle them 2-3 times to start the truck in 35-55 degree weather?
Thanks again!
Jim
Sent email to you....... How long does the WTS light stay on, do you start it right after the light goes out........do not wait until after the clicking stops.
The fuel level senders may be worn out....... check connections first.
I know if you drive in mud or on gravel like I do its probably going to be regular maintenance to clean the connections to the sending units. Even without the dirt they need cleaned from time to time.
