3speed overdrive

3speed overdrive
I have a 57 F100 with the stock 3spd overdrive.
It only has one problem, it drops out of 2nd
gear if you decelerate, either down shifting or going
down hill. I have checked the linkage. I have new motor
mounts on a rebuilt motor, plus it doesn't drop out over
bumps or excelleration. My question is, in the Ford
manual it says these transmissions were just a regular
3speed manual tranny with a planitary overdrive bolted on
the back. If so can I get another 3speed and bolt on my
overdrive? The O.D works fine. Any advice is helpfull.
