I have a 54 for f100 and when I purchased it someone had removed the original mirrors that mount inside the door and put some outside mounted mirrors. What I need is for some one to help me with the corest hole to hole dimensions of the mount. I am a machinist and think it would cool to create my own mirrors but like the original mounting location.
The actual hole dimension is 1/2" wide and 1-5/8" top to bottom
the hole is exactly 1" back from the front lip of the door
the hole is 34-1/6" from the rear lip of the door
and 31" from the bottom edge of the door laying the tape around the curve of the door...I didn't get a straight measurement for two reasons...it was too damn hard and would probably confuse the whole issue.
There is a pocket in the door that the mirror mount slides into and the mounting screws enter from the hinge side of the door (on the jamb) thru the mirror mount and into captive nuts on the back side of the hinge pocket. I didn't measure the locations of the mounting screw holes...I'll bet they're still there
I can take digital pics if they will help. Hope this helps
