lube ?

'06 2.3L 5-speed 42k mi, maint sched on Ford website has for the 45k service "Inspect and lubricate steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, half shafts / drive shaft and u-joints".

Which of these can I in fact lube, and how to go about it ?

You can lube all of them, and to the best of my knowledge you only need a grease gun with a fitting to connect to the vehicle.

Correction, you cant lube any of them. They are sealed with no fittings, and the only way you can lube them, is if you replace them with aftermarkets ones that have fittings. I've heard the stock front end parts last about 100-150k before they need to be replaced.

That's what I thought. I know some of the larger trucks have zerks to feed them with grease, but my impression from the owner's manual was that mine did not. Wasn't positive about the u-joints however. I DO know I can grease/oil the roller thing in the door though

I should also add that my 1950 Ford 8N tractor has lots of zerks, and it is still here after more than 50 years. I really don't expect my '06 ranger to be around in 2062....
