brake question
New to forum. Just purchased a 1978 F-100, 302, C6, short wheel base, step side. Have always wanted one.
The brakes seem a little stiff and the brake peddle does not return. Lacks about 1" from full return. Have front disc and rear drum. Previous owner replaced MC and booster. Peddle always stays up never goes to floor, yet it is pretty stiff. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site and this forum 
This is a common problem/concern
When the Brake Pedal won't come back the problem is usually calipers seizing or rear brake hardware worn out.
You can also check the push rod adjustment between the booster & MC and also do a booster test to make sure that is working properly.
My guess is the truck has been sitting a while and the calipers aren't returning and the shoes are being pulled back into proper position.
Also on 78's there is a pin that needs moving into position and held there when bleeding the front brakes.

Just replaced the front and rear U-joints what a difference. Noticed this evening that the brake peddle now returns all the way out (the last one inch), but does it slowly. I will pull the wheels tomorrow and check the brakes for worn parts and worn pads / shoes. Thanks for the reply.
