I received a pretty cool book as a christmas present, its called Ford Truck Chronicle, hardcover, 1" thick. Its a history of the Ford truck from the early 1900's to 2006. To me, only the first half until around 1960 was worth reading. haha. Its more pictures than words, lots of old black and white photos, advertising photos, etc etc. I recommend it as a future birthday present.
This could possibly be the one I was thumbing thru in Barnes&Noble about 10 years ago. It was cool, but I was into big 4x4's at the time. Their was an even bigger book on IH history. wish I had'em now.
Col Flashman -- no it doesnt seem to have anything about Mercury trucks.
It does have pictures of both small and big trucks. its around 300 pages with about 20 pages per decade, more or less. i enjoyed the pictures of the old model T and model A trucks.
Last summer, while at the the Iola car show, I bought the Standard Catalog of Light-Duty Ford Trucks, 1905-2002 written by John Gunnell and published by Krause publications, the sponsors of the show.
This is a great reference book. It lists model numbers, Body/Style numbers, Body types, Factory prices, shipping weights and production totals for F-1 through F-4. It also has other facts about the trucks like when certain trim options were offered, engine information, chassis measurements and other historical information about each year. I bought this book from the Krause tent on the show grounds for $5, the cover price is $25. Krause has it listed on their web site. It's the best $5 I have ever spent for truck reference material. The only things that I think would make it better would be color pictures, all interior pictures are black and white, and line drawings of the trucks with dimensions, like the kind found in some sales literature of the day. The measurements listed are only in words, no drawings. I am sure if they had both of these the book would cost twice as much if not more. I still think it's a great book.
Looks cool looks like something similar i got i got a book called Ford F-100 F-150 that covers from 1948 to 1996 or something like that good book to lots of information on the packages and what Ford did throughout the years

Those of you who have seen my posts here on accessories, engine availability, chassis specs, and production figures...Well, this is the book I'm using. No parts numbers listed here, though.

My Wife bought it for me too. I really like it and would recommend it. It shows good pics of the trucks as they came out of the factory or from factory promo shots. You can see how they looked and what they came with.
It is almost as good as James McLaughlin's book. His book has more info, but this one has more color pics.
Borders Book Store doesn't seem to have it. I did a search and came up empy. I have a gift card from there. I guess I will just have to go and see if they will order it for me.
Barnes & Noble book stores seem to have them new and used. I went online to find one myself. I was hoping Borders would have it but they don't. I am going there tomorrow to see if they will order it for me.
