Merry Christmas to everyone.
I've had a small oil leak for a while on my 89 F-150. Near as I can tell it is leaking out of the back of the valve cover down onto the Y-pipe. Oddly enough it doesn't really leak while driving, only while parked.
My question for you guys is are there any tricks to doing this? Far as I can tell I'll have to remove the throttle body and intake assembley to get at the pass side one. Anything else I should know that anyone has run into before? I've also been told that I can use silicone as a gasket for valve covers, but I wasn't too sure about that.
Yes it's a 5.0. Does Ford even still make gaskets for these trucks? Cause if that's the case I'll run up to my local Ford dealer instead of Part Source.
Any good none cork type gasket will work 100% better.. You only have to remove upper plemunm not intake . Get gasket for it and new pcv valve while at it . Also check plug wires much easier to replace with out upper on . good luck.
i replaced both of mine a couple weeks ago. its not a quick job! remove the egr from upper intake, upper intake, make sure to pay attention to the vaccuum routing.and when u buy the intake gasket kit,it comes with the throttle body gasket to, so u mightas well take it off and clean it to with throttlebody cleaner, not brake cleaner or anything like that. there is a star bit bolt in the middle of the intake between the runners that is also fun to get and put back in without dropping it. good luck man!

sorry your wrong, cork is not a better gasket , i will use cork on somethign when there is NO OTHER gasket available, but when your talking the work involved with a f series rubber/metal, or neoprene rubber is much much better. i take it you still like using cork end seals on your intake too huh?
