89 f-150 302, thinking about maf conversion, will the upper and lower stock mustang intake work well in a truck, and where would u get a bracket for the tv cable on the trans
The Mustang intake will bolt on but you might do better using an Explorer intake. It moves the torque band lower which will get the truck rolling better.
The mustang intake has much smaller runners than the truck in terms of cross section and length, and while this may sound like a bad thing, I suspect you may actually see an increase in power production across the board because of higher intake velocities. It certainly should produce more upper rpm horsepower, but the cam will ultimately restrict it to something less than the HO motor... unless you change that too. Mustangs were available with the AOD tranny so the cable mounting plate should be available in scrap yards and such. A plate from a Crown Vic or TBird should also work.
thanks guys, that really helps. if i do it, im going to do it all, intake, cam, headers.the only thing, where do u put the air intake tube, it will be on the pass. side instead of drivers now.
Don't feel bad, you certainly aren't the only one who didn't know that. The lightning trucks use the GT40 style intake, similar to the explorer one and it faces the driver side.

bingo, dont waste your timewith a stock ho intake. the explorer is a much better get up and if you use a stang or mn12 harness and pcm your truck will run much much better .
The Explorer and Cobra intakes use cast version of the GT-40 tubular upper. The lower portion of all 3 is nearly identical, as is the runner cross section and length.
the gt-40 intake=the cobra, explorer ,right? what about a trick flow intake , i heard they produce a butt load of power as long as u have some head work done. or if u went the gt 40 route i bet u could get it from a junk explorer for a lot cheaper than new. is there a diffenece in production and aftermarket gt-40, thanks for all your help.

yes the upper s are different for different sensors and such , i am persoanlly usign a 94-95 cobra on my 89 cougar with a 347 , trick flow is a good option too , you can usually pull an intake used for 100 or so
