What is up with the workers on American HotRod, American Chopper, and whatever else is featured in shop reality TV with the really sloppy and dangerous garage skills. MIG Welding with no helmet, grinding with no eye protection or gloves, painting with no mask, TIG welding barehanded......
Its fine if they want to ruin themselves with bad lungs, detached retinas, and radiated skin but there are a few young-uns working there in the shops and there should be some example set for the next generation. Then again, maybe I'm being too picky
I also really hate seeing a BODY hammer used to strike chisels and punches.......
Yeah i go to a trade school for automotive and they freak if you arnt wearing eye protection all the time when your in the shop. You dont even have to be working, if your in the shop you are required to wear eye protection.
Ive noticed some of the same things. These guys must be more concerned with the tv camera and are just pretending they are working and they dont hink they need the safety equipement. however it really does make them look like amatures and wantabees .
