Been to the store, got the "tool" replaced the filter and test drove. WOW what a difference!!!! before I put the new filter on I blew through it like blowing through a straw. I tried that with the old filter and it made my ears pop..............
Humm. Mine is an 01 with 92k on it. I bet that fuel fitter is pretty old if not original on it. I think I'll replace it in the morning when I can get the part. What is that a Motorcraft FG-872 or something like that?
I let my last one go about 25k. Pretty nasty looking stuff came out when I beat the inlet side on a nice clean rag. Same with my car's filter. It might have had 20k on it.
I found a tool that works well for changing the fuel filter at the local Pep Boys store. It is called a "Ford quick disconnect tool" Made by CTA. The tool number is A370. It is smaller and easier to use than the scissor tool and more substantial than the plastic tool made by Lisle. I carry one in the glove compartment.
I just replaced mine today. Not Motorcraft. Darn friend forgot to pick it up for me. Next time around then. As I thought it was the original filter with 92567miles. I couldn't blow through it! I guess it was time. Seems to like the new filter much better.
