OK, the vote is over and more people wanted to look for something better in the way of a truck.
I want to set up a committee to find us a truck - and give them a week to do so. I have a couple of ideas, but will not be on the committee as one of the trucks is mine. I expect 3 people would work - one from the south, one from the Reno side, and one in Sacramento or north. Who wants to be on this committee?
Also, should we proceed with the purchase of the 460 in Carson City now that we do not know how it will be used? Should we take the tranny also? We have to decide tonight or tomorrow morning.
I still like the specs we worked out - F250 or stouter, 460/C6/married xfer case. Dana 60 or better for the rear, dana 44 or better for the front. We will need to match the ratios and add a traction lock to the rear. Power steering and power disk brakes would be nice, but we can add them later.
So who is up to this challenge?

Just my opinion, but without a ruck in hand to use, the motor becomes an obstacle. It'd be good to have it as apare, but why put the cart ahead of the hose.
Ther will be another motor somewhere, some day.
I'd say settle on the truck to use first, then build around it.
