im a green horn, got my truck from my dad which he got from his.Ive been around it and working on this thing my whole lif e(17 years) but i dont know every thing.Im looking to remove the remnants of my AC unit.
I have a 73 ranger body mounted on a 79 chasis. Is a 4x4, f350. 351m.
now, as told to me, the ac unit from the 79 doesnt work with whatever i have for the 73.I know nothing about AC except theres this big hunk of metal with a pulley on it , mounted in the front of the engine compartment.Doesnt need to be there as far as im concerned.
so , Any suggestions or shematics of the ac unit.
i would ask my dad but he just has sooo many other projects with his truck and other toys.
thanks-Pete
any 1 know where i can find some pics. of the 351m

Now this isnt my truck however it shows the ac pretty clearly, Ive already removed the hose but the unit there with the pully on it is the ?pump? in question. Can i remove it without affecting anything else. There is no belt attached either
you have to put the A/C pump bracket back on since the top left corner of the P/S pump is supported by it (mine was) plus you have to put the bolts back in the heads or they will leak oil. there are 3 bolts holding the mounting bracket on. pretty sure i had to remove the entire bracket to get the a/c off.

ohh i see.U make a good point aboot the P/S pump being suprted by the AC bracket.... i think ive see it done in the gallery. But why would the bolts leak oil?
