No Brake Lights
NO BRAKE LIGHTS INCLUDING THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT (all other lights work fine)
What a christmas: Here's the problem, I was rear-ended before thanksgiven and I know that my brake lights worked after the accident *but I'm not sure* anyway I have changed the brake switch under the dash on the brake pedal and that did not work. I checked the fuses (or maybe I'm missing a fuse or two) I have taken off the back bumper and no broken wires, I have checked the bulbs and they look fine. So here is what I've done so far:
Changed the brake switch on the brake pedal "did not work"
Checked the fuses #9 & #13 inside the cabin *but I see that some say that some of the fuses are missed labeled* and I do not know which ones to check in the engine compartment because the owners manual does not show a fuse for the brakes?
Checked the bulbs they look fine
Checked the wiring in the rear and no splices or cuts
ALL tail lights works including backup lights and turn signals
WHAT NEXT for a min. tool guy to do?
Thanks
According to the light bulb industry if a light is jarred while ON then the filament which is heated will become unstabled causing a hairline facture within the wire filament causing the light to blow (you know what I do for a living ehh) some lights have a stronger filament like your headlights which can take more jarring then other.
Not beknown to the naked eye of course
So in the case of a rear-end accident in which I was on the brakes in afternoon traffic, when the person hit me all three brake light bulbs expired when I was impacted.
Since the rear bumper was dented and bent and the back window shattered no person of law enforcement bother to stop me
CHANGE THE BULB'S FIRST
Thanks and have a BLESSED NEW YEAR
