Is this safe?
Is it a good idea to remove all the glow plugs when you crank it up? Since I need to replace them anyways they all have to come out.
I think you are thinking of the ICP, as soon as you unplug the IPR the engine quits. The IPR is on the HPOP down low, not on the oil rail
the way i did it
after all the removal of all parts i reinstalled my bdp injectors and installed the vc's with a couple of bolts. the gps where already out at this time.
pulled the #9 fuse under the hood.
cranked motor over by hand with a 24mm socket and 1/2 drive ratchet off of the front several times. i could hear the oil coming out.
then with fuse still out cranked it over with the starter several times.
removed vc's, installed gp's.
cranked motor over lots with the #9 fuse still out. (our injectors dont like air. should your truck fire before you have a pretty solid head of oil/diesel in there..... well not to good you get the point)
then installed the fuse and began the long task of getting it to fire.
you can do this with vc's on or off. it wont make a mess. i prefer them off to see if you got em all firing by observing the oil flow out of the spouts.
i wouldnt recommend reving the truck right away. let it idle a while.
