Seems like no one is at work today.
I opted to come in between Xmas and new years, it's a nice quiet time to clean up my office, archive my files and do some of the things I can't get done normally with the phone ringing and other normal distractions.
What about the rest of you? Had your fill of "Family time" and are escaping to your job? Me I'll save my vacation days for July- August.
For those who stayed home, my sincere THANK YOU! Less cars on the road this morning so I made it to work in record time, no traffic, no stress, less fuel.....it will and soon enuff.
I didn't go into work today. I was supposed to but was sick. I almost NEVER call in sick. But, I came down with some kind of virus last night. I called into work this morning (I work with my Dad) and my Mom answered the phone. Apparently my Dad came down with the same thing. I guess we got it from my brother.
Oh well. I am feeling better now so I will go into work tomorrow.
I never work Xmas day and rarely on Sunday. Every other day is just another work day. Yesterday paid nicely as did today. Waiting for calls to come in is the hardest part of my job. Being available for the calls when they come in is the order of the business. Sitting at home goofing off won't put money in my pocket.

Most folks that come to work between Xmas and New Years are sitting at work goofing off!
Not me of course, ...you didn't think I was talking about me did you?? ......
I'm at home goofing off and loving it. The plant shuts down between x-mas and New Years so I'll be back at er come Jan 2nd.
To escape the traffic, phones and IP's even more .... I'm heading to the cabin and 4 days of technology seclusion starting in 20 minutes
Happy New Year to All !
We'll see ya back here in January

I went to work the next day and my Dad and I were putting new ball joints and front u-joints in one of the plow trucks. I was working on the vice and I managed to really mess up my thumb pretty bad. My nail is all bruised and the tip of my thumb is all cut up. I may end up having to go to the hospital but I hope not. I will see what happens with it tomorrow.
Ummm...not really. It was just something stupid that happened. I am not really even sure how. My hand was in a stupid spot on the vice and when I went to tighten it my thumb got caught between the vice and the bar that is used to crank it tighter. Weird....
that sucks. Beginning of November I broke 2 ribs when my truck fell on me. I knew what I was doing was stupid but I did it anyways. You know that thought of this will only take a second.

If you can find this old video, be forewarned that it is extremely graphic. It shows a guy working on a car in a scrap yard. He didn't have the car properly supported & it fell on his leg. His leg was ALMOST cut in two. Now he's pinned and well on his way to bleeding to death.
You won't forget those broken ribs for a long time. Lesson learned, eh?
.
Matt...
Soak your thumb in hydrogen peroxide, try not to scream, then coat it with polysporin. This will help heal the split skin quickly and reduce the scar and eliminate the risk of infection.
Guess how I know this.
