Right Brake Light Issue
I have an issue with my 81 F250 right brake light. All rear lights work correctly except for the right brake light. Press the brakes and left works but right does not. Signal, dimmers on left and right work but right brake does not. Have tried replacing bulb, reworking ground, new socket even, test light shows no power when brake is pressed. I have even tried to refer to wiring diagram in Haynes manual but cannot find exact one for year. Any further help would be helpfull. Thanks to all.
Check the orange/Light blue wire coming out of the turn signal switch connector at the bottom of the column. This wire is for the right turn signal and brake light.
With the right turn signal on this wire should pulse "flash". With the turn signal switch off, and the brakes applied it should have a steady 12volts.
If it doesn't pass this test at the connector, replace your T.S. switch.
Your brake lights and turn signals use the same wire for both brake and turn signal, and is combined in the T.S. switch itself.
Hope this helps.
