I'm a new Ranger driver, so I have many stuped quations. Well, the first is, what spark plugs to use, what is the plug wrench size? Where is the OBD-2 connector?
I have 4.0. How many camshafts there? one ore 2 in heads. How many valves there? 24 ore 12? What is the tranny there? I know, that I have auto only.
Whoa. Ok your running a 4.0L SOCH (Single OverHead Cam). Use the sparkplugs recomended by your owners maunual. The motorcrafts are the only ones that get good gas mileage and good plug life. I'm running the older OHV, so they might have changed the plugs since then. I though i heard something about the soch's having 18, but that doesn't make much sence, so i'ld say it's 12 or 18.
Glad to hear that you got you a ranger, also glad you got the 4.0, it's a single over head cam design, 1 cam per head, for a total of 2. 207 american horse power and 238 american foot pounds of torque, don't know what that is in metric.. I'm not sure about the plugs, cause I haven't had to change mine yet. Like Alan said, use motorcraft if you can get them, they work really well in the 4.0. I can't tell you about your auto tranny, as I'm a manual tranny guy, but there will be others a long to help you there. Good luck with your new to you, ranger, I know you've been wanting one from our past discussions.
The spark plug socket size is 5/8; make sure you have one with the rubber thingy inside so you don’t crack the insulator. You also want to have a good selection of extensions and universals to make removal /instillation easier. Also a short piece of rubber hose will make starting the plugs easier.
I have a ’99 Ranger, the OBD-II connector in under a plastic cover below the steering column, between the parking brake release and the hood release.
I have OBD-II scan program for lap top, and I can read codes, but who ever sow a program for ECU parametrisation for Ford, like VW VAG Tool ore Mercedes DAS, that work thrue k-l line adapter?
Are there Ford dealers in the Ukraine? Or is it just Ukraine, people always seem to say "The Ukraine", not sure which is right. Are dealers there bloodsuckers too?
And I have to be hornest.... I work for Mercedes Truck dealer.... So I have can-scanners, O-scopes and other modern toys, but with Ranger I can reed codes only.
What is the programmer kit for Ranger.... Just a Computer program for K-L line adaptor?
